A. Davis Guitars Mentioned In ESPN The Magazine

SAN DIEGO, CA - July 17, 2002 - A. Davis Guitars recently received some worldwide press in the July 22, 2002 issue of ESPN The Magazine.

In an article on PGA Tour golfer John Daly entitled "Rough Cut" author Gene Wojciechowski writes that during the interview Daly is strumming away on "his just delivered A. Davis acoustic guitar. (Daly's signature phrase 'Grip It And Rip It' is inset under the frets.)" Aside from the mention in the article there is a two-page photo spread of John Daly strumming his customized acoustic on his tour bus, which he uses for travel during the PGA Tour season.

A Davis Guitars recently customized its' SD-1 Super Dreadnought and A-1 Auditorium to John Daly's specifications. Aside from the intricate inlay work the acoustics included customized pick guards with Daly's swinging lion logo, abalone trim around the guitars' tops and a lion head logo on the acoustics' headstocks. He has since ordered customized guitars for Darius Rucker and Mark Bryan of Hootie & The Blowfish as well as one for country singer Johnny Lee.

Aside from his accomplishments on the golf course (victories in the 1991 PGA Tour Championship and 1995 British Open,) Daly is preparing to release his first CD entitled "This Is My Life." Born out of jam sessions at his annual Make A Wish charity golf tournament post parties, Daly entered the studio with a handful of song ideas and began cutting his new CD. Co-produced by Willie Nelson, Daly penned the lyrics with Rucker as well as musician friend Daron Norwood. "This Is My Life" is slated for a Fall 2002 release.

A Davis Guitars hopes to offer the SD1-JD and A1-JD models to the public in the coming year.

"It's all a matter of sitting down with John and ironing out some details when the 2002 PGA Tour season comes to a close," said Chris Bello, Director of Sales & Marketing. "JD absolutely fell in love with the guitars we made him and being the kindhearted guy he is he ordered a few more to give to Darius and Mark of Hootie. It wouldn't surprise me if he orders a half dozen more by year's end."
